Common symptoms include urethral infection such as dysuria or pyuria. Men with gonorrhoea may also complain of testicular or scrotal pain. Symptoms usually appear in a week after infection.

People infected with syphilis at the primary stage normally have no symptoms. In case they do, a single sore or multiple sores can be found.
